Last month in New York City, we hosted a workshop for the highest certification level of our Aviatrix Certified Engineer (ACE) Program– ACE Design Expert. While thousands of students have earned certifications on cloud network security, network operations, automation, and other networking topics, less than 30 worldwide have earned this capstone achievement.
To earn this title, candidates must:
Submit a detailed multicloud network design
Defend their architecture in person before a technical panel
Tackle an impromptu design challenge live

While I’ve been a technical ACE trainer for almost two years, this event marked my first experience hosting an ACE DE certification session.
The event showcased participants’ advanced expertise in multicloud network architecture using the Aviatrix solution. We structured the workshop to assess and enhance the technical acumen of seasoned professionals within the cloud networking and security domain.
The ACE DE design submissions reviewed during the event exhibited remarkable attention to detail, strict adherence to guidelines, and a profound understanding of cloud networking principles.
The discussions articulated the why and how of technology choices, encompassing the identification of optimal performance solutions for imaging applications and EHR systems and the integration of disaster recovery solutions, such as Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
Candidates also discussed:
Advanced design concepts to address specific healthcare requirements, including the protection of PHI and regulatory compliance
Reducing network troubleshooting complexities
Enhancing egress security standards
The ACE Design Expert session not only confirmed our candidates’ technical expertise but gave them the chance to learn and celebrate innovation. Participants elaborated on their designs, incorporating:
Hybrid Cloud Connectivity using Aviatrix Secure Datacenter Edge
NAT usage and Aviatrix Cloud Firewall for Egress Perimeter Security
Integration with environments like Azure VMware Services and Azure Virtual Desktop
Simplified troubleshooting to transform complex cloud deployments into easy-to-deploy, replicable cloud designs.
The ACE Design Expert certification recognizes these candidates’ practical application of theoretical knowledge and ability to harmonize the many requirements of a network – security, performance, resiliency, agility, and cost optimization – in design. Congratulations to the candidates who passed!
