The Containment Era is here. →Explore

In a recently-released leadership brief, “Deploying a Single Multicloud Networking Operational Model with Aviatrix and Equinix or Megaport,” Futuriom explored some of the top challenges in cloud networking and how Aviatrix’s integrations with Aviatrix and Equinix provide essential security, simplicity, and connectivity for customers. The brief covered:

  • Challenges such as cloud complexity, connectivity issues, costs, and security concerns for enterprise networks

  • Strategies that organizations are adopting, including the rise of multicloud networks

  • How Aviatrix’s partnership with Equinix offers a secure digital fabric

  • How Aviatrix’s partnership with Megaport offers secure multicloud and hybrid connectivity

Here are some key takeaways:

1. Enterprises need a better way to integrate and manage sprawling network resources

The industry has transitioned from hardware-defined, on-premises networks to networks that are patched together from on-premises environments, hardware, software-defined networks (SDNs), public cloud accounts, and other components. It’s become increasingly clear that these distributed, disparate networks cannot keep growing without a unified, streamlined management solution.

2. Data and security needs for networking are skyrocketing

Certain industry drivers demand high volumes of data and robust cloud security:

  • Distributed cloud applications

  • Public cloud adoption

  • 5G and IoT (internet of things) proliferation

  • AI/ML workloads

With this growing demand for data and security, organizations are looking for networking solutions that can encrypt data in transit while lowering latency.

3. Organizations are increasingly pursuing multicloud strategies

Multicloud is becoming the solution for many organizations facing the challenges of increasing cloud complexity, a high demand for data, security risks like the state-sponsored Salt Typhoon, and rising AI adoption. Futuriom found that 49% of 131 qualified IT and network managers included in the study are pursuing a multicloud strategy. 90% consider seamless multicloud connectivity “critical” or “very important.”

Multicloud may be the solution, but there are different ways of implementing an MCN structure. The report reviews the various options for multicloud implementation, including private cloud and datacenter, public cloud, colocation networking services like Equinix, and service provider and NaaS (network as a service).

4. Multicloud saves costs

Cloud native networking services, egress fees, and legacy hardware can generate significant fees and expenses. Many organizations are turning to multicloud solutions to help reduce costs. Futuriom interviewed Aviatrix customers and found that Aviatrix helped these organizations save data processing costs.

5. Aviatrix and Equinix’s partnership offers a secure digital fabric

The brief examined the benefits of using a colocation fabric like Equinix to build a multicloud infrastructure by using their own infrastructure and connecting it to networking resources. The Equinix Fabric allows customers to host third-party apps in edge locations, select from networking services provided by partners, set up direct internet access (DIA), and connect directly to the cloud.

Aviatrix partners with the Equinix solution to offer a multicloud software that offers a consistent network architecture across multiple providers. This architecture delivers high-performance encrypted connectivity and a consistent operational experience across different environments – on-premises, colocation facilities, and public clouds.

6. Megaport completes the multicloud puzzle

Megaport, a leading NaaS provider, offers a software-defined global network infrastructure that provides cloud connectivity, virtual PoPs, global WAN, and MegaIX. Key benefits of the Megaport solution include instant provisioning, activated in 60 seconds, as well as a scalable, private backbone with bandwidth up to 100+ Gbps. Megaport’s partnership with Aviatrix completes the network puzzle by providing networking connectivity among datacenter and public cloud assets.

Aviatrix, Equinix, and Megaport: A Single, Distributed Cloud Network

The Futuriom report concluded that the best solution for managing sprawling, complex, expensive networks with sensitive data is a single, distributed cloud network. Futuriom recommends solutions like Aviatrix, Equinix, and Megaport to harness multicloud flexibility, security, agility, and performance while optimizing costs.
